Potty Mouth

I've aways found bathroom graffiti fascinating.

Spring break

Why do people scrawl their thoughts in such an exclusive place, for intimate viewing only? Are they just bored?

It's the only place where striking insights share the wall with random phone numbers.

Anyways, I've started a collection.

That's how I got your phone number. The bathroom wall.

Bathroom graffiti could be said to be a type of culture jamming in that it is an attempt to subvert the mainstream "consumer" culture given that what is supposed to be a clean (literally & aesthetically) bathroom has be over time be taken, as in a war of attrition, by a collective, malleable force that knows no name, no purpose in its actions except for the sole expression of ideas they think would not be given a fair hearing in public. In other words, I argue that not out of boredom as much, but more out of a sense of frustration and vocal suffocation is what gives graffiti its drive.

Those with an Internet connection blog instead.

I have to admit, your collection of bathroom graffiti on Flickr is more artistic than I had guessed. I am more used to some version of graphically depicted sexual perversion on bathroom stalls specifically rather than any slice of reasoned thought.
